Bare the Fox- Reporting Corruption

Bare the Fox is a corruption Reporting project intended to boost public understanding and especially reporting and discussion of corruption related incidences and issues. Corruption in all its forms is reported to be on the increase and remain key concerns in Uganda. While the traditional media has tried to report on corruption, a lot of corruption related activities and incidences still go unreported. Recent allegations of media houses and journalists being corrupt or being compromised by corrupt officials have made the corruption exposure inadequacies worse. The ‘fox’ is now eating away what is meant for the public with not as much sustained scrutiny or exposure in the different public offices and communities.

Since many people not directly engaged in corruption related activities witness the vice either being perpetuated or its effects, the country can benefit if more community members are enabled to report and corruption related cases and information whenever and where they come across it. Bare the Fox is intended to be an online platform where web and mobile tools are utilized to report, synthesize and verify incidences or suspicions of corruption. The interactive platform will enable reporting and discussion of the information, facts, allegations of corruption and act as background information for authorities, the media, civil society and other stakeholders willing or ready to investigate corruption.

Whether someone is asked for a bribe, asked to pay for what should be free, witnesses exchange of bribes or embezzlement, or shoddy work from government contracts, bare the fox will enable someone to report by sms, email, twitter, mobile app and or online post. With limited guidance, many people can be encourage to collect as much details as they can of corruption related incidences and report them for free or for a reward for exceptional and or consistent reports. The reports will be verified and improved by a team of two journalists and a manager will be retained.
